Speed monitoring in Carlton (20-08-18)A vehicle activated speed sign has been installed in Carlton village. The sign will flash a warning to any vehicles exceeding the 30 mph speed limit, and will also record the number of vehicles and their speed. This data may then be used to support requests for speed enforcement, and will also provide data on traffic flows through the village.
The sign will be moved every four weeks or so to one of five locations. This is to enable monitoring of each of the roads leading into the village, and will also mean that drivers do not become accustomed to the sign and begin to ignore it.
The data collected is being published on the Traffic and speed monitoring page of this website, in quarterly reports to the PC, and also summarised in Carlton News.
